Current software versions / updates
KOSMIK 170/210/250 HV / HV-I:
In the firmware version V1.25 for the KOSMIK 170/210/250 HV-I the following item has been added.
- Implementation of the telemetry output for the temperature sensor of the Project ONE motor.
a) Telemetry protocols implemented: Jeti, Graupner and PowerBox.
b) Mikado, Futaba, FrSky and Multiplex will be added in a later software, we apologize.
No bootloader update is necessary for V1.25, provided V1.17 or higher is installed on your controller. If a lower version than V1.17 is on your controller, the bootloader update must be performed in advance as described below and only then the V1.25 update must be performed.
1. install the bootloader update V1.1 to the controller with the ProgUnit. ATTENTION: When starting the update, the error message will appear that the software is older than the software present on the KOSMIK. Confirm here with “Yes” and carry out the update.
2. Once the update is complete, disconnect the battery.
3. IMPORTANT, connect the motor and receiver.
4. Reconnect the battery.
5. Wait until the controller beeps.
6. Check the version of the bootloader with ProgUnit: If V2.2 appears, the update has been successfully completed.
Note:
– The bootloader update V1.1 updates the bootloader and does not contain any other functions!
– When installing the new software V1.25, it can also be recognized that the bootloader version is now 2.2 and the bootloader update was therefore successful.

KOLIBRI software version V3.0
For all KOLIBRI models (HV-I and LV-I) we have now made the new software V3.0 available for download. The new software V3.0 is a milestone in the performance of KOLIBRI controllers! The most important thing in advance: it includes several new and adapted safety features – to keep your model on top!
The new KOLIBRI security features in detail:
Intelligent Current Commander – The intelligent current control
In the event of a prolonged overload of up to 1.5 times the rated current, a moderate current reduction to the rated current of the controller takes place after 2 seconds. This ensures flight capability up to the thermal limit and prevents the controller from shutting down due to an overcurrent.
Intelligent Temperature Commander – The intelligent temperature control
If the permissible temperature limit of 90°C is exceeded, the controller is not switched off or shut down abruptly, but the current is reduced. The longer the temperature is higher than 90°C, the more current is reduced, down to the maximum possible power of 40% of the rated current. Even in this control state, the KOLIBRI still allows short-term peaks, which avoids unwanted control behavior. Thanks to the intelligent temperature control, the extreme temperature limit of 120°C is not even reached during normal cooling.
Undervoltage / capacity reduction
The reduction time when the battery reaches the undervoltage limit has been increased to 2 minutes to enable a relaxed and safe landing.
With the V3.0 software, convenient, direct parameterization via the remote control “VBAR Control Touch” or “VBAR Control Classic” is now also possible. This offers the great advantage of being able to try out different settings of the controller on the flying field!
Other telemetry adjustments:
Default telemetry protocol has been changed to “Mikado”.
If the telemetry protocol “Mikado” is loaded, the stick travels are automatically set to fit “Mikado”. These now no longer have to be taught in.
For “FrSky” telemetry, additional values have been implemented for the freely adjustable telemetry channels of the “FrSky” remote controls. For this purpose the table for naming and correct selection of the IDs is important, which is stored on the KONTRONIK homepage under “Downloads / Software / KONTRONIK address assignment for telemetry”.
With the “PowerBox” telemetry, the set reduction ratio is now calculated in the speed output.
New bootloader
With the new bootloader, sending in a KOLIBRI controller for service in case of an unintentional interrupted or incomplete update is history!
In order to use the new bootloader, the new controller software V3.0 must be installed on the KOLIBRI. Then the bootloader update to V3.0 must be performed as described below. The new bootloader is not backward compatible.
- Update firmware as usual with the ProgUNIT.
- When the update is complete, disconnect and reconnect the drive battery.
- Program the mode 1.
- Disconnect the drive battery and reconnect it.
Wait until the controller initializes. - Press and hold the button until the controller beeps (this may take several seconds). The beep of the bootloader update differs from that of the mode programming and is therefore easily recognizable.
- Disconnect the drive battery and reconnect it. The controller then initializes and is ready for the user-defined setting.
- For control purposes, the controller software V3.0 and Bootloader V3.0 are now displayed in K-Config V1.3.11.
KOLIBI 90/140 HV-I
KOLIBRI software versionVersion 1.2
- In version 1.2, a peak current control parameter has been integrated to improve the performance of the controller. The telemetry functions have also been expanded. With software function 1.2, data exchange is possible with:
- PowerBox
- FrSky
KOLIBI 60/90/140 LV & LV-I
Software version 2.1
With the update of the software to version 2.1, the telemetry port and the Bluetooth function on the KOLIBRI LV-I can now be used simultaneously.
With the previous software version, the Bluetooth function was only usable when the telemetry cable was disconnected. This improvement is significantly important for the KOLIBRI 140 LV-I, as it has two telemetry ports.
IMPORTANT: If version 2.0 is already installed on the KOLIBRI LV-I controller, this is a normal update and can be performed as described in the instructions. If an older software version than version 2.0 is installed, the update must be installed on the controller as a bootloader update. The procedure for the bootloader update is described in detail for version 2.0 or also in the manual under point 8.Update, number 12.
Software version 2.0
With the software update, we have integrated two new parameters for dynamic current control and peak current control into the boot loader to further improve the performance of the controller.
The telemetry functions have also been expanded. With the software function 2.0 the data exchange with Futaba CGY760 and JETI CentralBOX has been improved. In addition, the telemetry function can now also be used with the systems
- PowerBox
- FrSky
There are some special features to note with this software update.
When downloading the software update, the virus scanner may report a virus. The software has been checked by KONTRONIK and is definitely virus-free, so the virus message can be ignored. KONTRONIK will make every effort to find a solution as quickly as possible.
To avoid errors and malfunctions during the update, the update process must be carried out as described below:
Attention: For steps 1, 3 and 5 please make sure that the battery voltage is applied without interruption, otherwise the bootloader may be damaged and sending the controller to KONTRONIK is inevitable!
1. update firmware, as usual with ProgUNIT.
After the update is complete, unplug the drive battery and plug it in again.
3. program mode 1.
Unplug the drive battery and plug it in again. Wait until the controller initializes.
Press and hold the button until the controller beeps (this may take several seconds). The beep of the bootloader update is different from that of the mode programming, so it is easily recognizable.
Unplug the drive battery and plug it in again, the controller initializes and is now ready for user-defined settings.
For all users who do not use ProgUnit but would still like to use the update, we offer to install the update free of charge at the KONTRONIK factory. To do this, please simply send the controller together with the KONTRONIK service form to the address given.
Version 1.4
The KOLIBRI LV-I controllers have so far outputted a voltage of 9V until initialization. This is not a problem for all receivers and FBL systems known to us. However, if pilots still use 6V servos, these could be damaged in the worst case according to our findings.
With version V1.4 we have now programmed our software so that the KOLIBRI LV-I controllers no longer start with a voltage peak, but also go into BEC voltage control before initialization. The BEC voltage set by the user is thus continuously output by the KOLIBRI LV-I controller, even before initialization.
This means that the minimum BEC voltage now also corresponds to the voltage that actually occurred in flight.
There are some special features to be considered for this software update, therefore the update procedure should be carried out as described below: Attention: For steps 1, 3 and 5 please make sure that the battery voltage is applied without interruption, otherwise the bootloader may be damaged and sending the controller to KONTRONIK is inevitable!
1. update firmware, as usual with ProgUNIT or ProgDISC. Setting the parameters is only possible with the ProgUNIT.
